Summary: 

An employee in this position performs a variety of duties in the direct creation of menus and menu cycles. These tasks must be consistently performed according to the established guidelines. This employee must exercise considerable independent judgement and initiative in planning, developing and coordination of breakfast, lunch, snack, summer programs and other menus and production records. The menu planner must work fluidly with the Nutrition Service Buyer and Director to achieve maximum use of all food commodities available. Weld County RE-4 School District is hiring a School Nutrition Field Supervisor

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Supervises school cafeterias as directed by Director

  • Work with kitchen managers to ensure program compliance by scheduling regular school visits monthly and performing on site reviews annually

  • Ensure proper utilization, care, and repair of equipment and follow-up as needed

  • Work with schools to determine equipment needs and make suggestions to Assistant Director and/or Director on cafeteria equipment needs

  • Work with health department to determine or clarify guidelines pertaining to food safety and sanitation for school nutrition programs 

  • Ensure that employees receive the necessary information regarding new and updated guidelines by participating in employee training surrounding health and sanitation

  • Train and supervise the work of school nutrition services personnel in assigned area(s), collaborate with Assistant Director and/or Director to make modifications to assignments and set priorities.

  • Assist with employee training as needed on POS, cashiering and relevant work-related Websites

  • Collaborate with Nutrition Services Administration during menu and recipe development

  • Facilitate and collaborates with school and kitchen staff to conduct student taste tests

  • Assist with school nutrition Wellness program and Nutrition Education classes

  • Analyze and compare food orders from school units with available historical data, identify questionable orders, and take appropriate action to reconcile potential discrepancies

  • Prepare supporting documentation for and recommend employee recognition and discipline.

  • Recommend modifications of work procedures and schedules to meet special needs and conditions. Offer training as needed where there are areas of concern

  • Ensure that daily work processes are being followed

  • Consult with department/site managers and/or vendors, when appropriate, to resolve ordering, supply, distribution, and serving problems

  • Work with Nutrition Services Administration to write and implement standard operating procedures for kitchen duties

  • Assist training specialist with updating HACCP manual for school cafeterias

  • Make active and consistent effort to maintain and improve the overall internal and external image of the Nutrition Services Department and of the District.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

FNEP Supervisor Research Associate position I/II/III at CSU

This position contributes to the development and implementation of staff development for EFNEP peer educators as well as the development and maintenance of curriculum and program materials. This position is housed in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition on Colorado State University’s main campus in Fort Collins and serves as an EFNEP Supervisor and Project Manager for EFNEP related research projects. A successful candidate will bring experience that provided evidence of drive and initiative; the individual in this position must be a self-starter. EFNEP Supervisor responsibilities include providing direct supervision for EFNEP peer educators in multiple Colorado counties delivering state-approved educational programs following EFNEP program guidelines to ensure program fidelity and success and building successful and sustainable relationships with professionals from agencies such as WIC, SNAP, TANF, public housing, K12 schools, and others, to establish EFNEP recruitment and teaching opportunities. The Research Project Manager responsibilities include monitoring the implementation of research project protocols and data collection. This position supports the EFNEP Coordinator with records and reporting, manuscript writing and submission, grant writing and submission, and other duties as assigned.
